Short and sweet update

I wish I had words adequate to express how I'm feeling right now. It has been an exhausting but very good week. I am so thankful to be here. And even though I have only been here for a little over a week it feels as though I never left. I have experienced every emotion possible this week and I am beginning to get settled in and discover exactly what God has in store for me and the people whose paths I will cross. I also wish I had the time to write to you about every moment of everyday. Since I don't have the time (or energy for that matter!) I will try my best to give you the highlights.

For those of you who heard/read about Hope (a seven month old who just had heart surgery) I wanted to let you know she is doing great!!! She was discharged today and is staying with us until Friday afternoon and then she will return to the baby center along with baby Andrew. Another baby who has been staying with the Bemms for about a month now. Andrew is about a month old and was given up by his mother who claimed she did not want him anymore.

I am sad to see Andrew go. After spending so much time with him I have grown rather attached. It breaks my heart that a mother could just give up her baby like that. I have to continuously remind myself the Jesus is Lord and He knows exactly what Andrew needs and God will be watching over him.

As I type this to you I am actually not in Tenwek. I was asked to go to Nairobi as a spur of the moment trip with another missionary and her twin, two year old girls. She chipped her tooth pretty badly and needed to get it repaired as soon as possible. Since her husband is in the states right now I came with her to keep an eye on the girls while she is at her appointment. We are hoping to be home by tomorrow evening but there is a chance that we won't make it home until Friday. If that is the case then I won't get to see baby Andrew or hope before they return to the baby center so I hope to get back to Tenwek before then. So I'm really hoping to return to Tenwek by tomorrow evening to spend a little more time with Hope and Andrew before they leave.

I will try my best to keep you posted with specific prayer requests and updates as often as possible! Thanks for the love, support, and prayers!

  1. I'm so proud of you, sweet girl! I also, hopefully, will be sending you some contact information soon - the father of a friend of mine is some very important person at the US Embassy in Nairobi, and his son said he will put you in contact with him in case you ever need anything. Nice people!
